If you’ve seen Dr. Elizabeth Trattner’s beautiful Gemstone Facial flooding your Instagram feed, there’s a reason why. Not only is it the prettiest and most picturesque facial that I’ve ever seen and experienced, but it’s also a treatment that does good for your skin, body, and soul.

I’ve never been a big believer in crystals or holistic healing. But all of that changed when I met Dr. Trattner, a wellness and beauty expert, and doctor of Chinese and Integrative Medicine. On a sunny spring day at her Miami studio over some iced matcha, we got to chatting about plastic surgery (she started her acupuncture career in a plastic surgeon’s office), anti-aging treatments, and all about the healing benefits of crystals and acupuncture.

Expertly trained in acupuncture, Dr. Trattner originally started using her self-developed techniques to cut surgery healing time in half while simultaneously reducing some of the unwanted side effects of surgery. Coupled with acupuncture, herbs, and years of studying both external and internal effects of aging led her to eventually create the facial to help improve skin and overall aging from the inside out.

Her noninvasive treatment—it doesn’t hurt in the least—starts by lying down on a heated gemstone bed. From there, a combination of acupuncture tools like gua sha, facial cupping, microcurrent, and/or facial rolling is performed (each modality offers a different benefit, for example, acupuncture can help regulate hormones) before a selection of expertly curated crystals are placed on the body. It’s the combination of everything—plus, her gentle touch and wisdom—that helps to naturally turn back the clock by correcting signs of aging. So relaxing and revitalizing, after the 90-minute session, I left feeling lighter, feeling more energized, and of course, my skin radiated a healthy glow. I can’t wait to go back!
